Personal History

1970-1971

"The next morning, we headed for Phu Cat. We road in a C-130. I thought the plane was leftover from WWII, but we did arrive at Phu Cat in one piece. I'll never forget that day either. The same overcast skies, but a place I would call home for one year of my life."

"I believe that North Vietnam was and has now, at the present time of this writing, attempted to dominate and to deprive another of his free agency (meaning the country and the people of South Vietnam). And, that South Vietnam, being a weaker nation, was being unjustly crushed by a strong and ruthless North Vietnam. I, Robert Stephen Ault, being loyal to my country and my God in the protection of free men everywhere did enter and protect my life and the life of my fellow man."

"My family has been my greatest support, your many letters. I've got the greatest people in the world to call my family."

"It can really get to you when you see all these other guys leaving and you're still here, but I'll be leaving one of these days too. Right now I'm listening to ya'lls tape. I went to midnight chow, checked the mail, and there it was. I can't tell you how good it was to hear ya'll. Makes tears come to my eyes. It's hard to believe I'm really in Vietnam sometimes, I really didn't realize it until Mike said I was there."
