13 October 1971
I slept in this morning.  I didn't get up until 11:30.  Then I went and had steak for supper and checked my mail.  Now it's almost time for me to go to work.  I've got to go get shots the 25th of this month.  I shouldn't have to get any more after this I hope.

15 October 1971
The 389th made their last flight last night.  I got a letter form the commander at Goodfellow.  His name is Capt. Love.  He is going to send some information about the base and area pretty soon.

25 October 1971
I'm doing just fine.  I went to the church yesterday.  The new leader interviewed me, for what I don't know.  He seemed kinda surprised to hear I was liven' right.  I've got to go get shots today.  I'm working mids, so far so good.  We haven't gotten any mail in a couple of days, maybe today.  I should know this week how close I come to making sergeant.  I will make it under 2 years.  We are suppose to get 250 RVN soldiers the 1st of November, and by the end of December they are only suppose to be 40 cops here.

We have been working 3 and 1 at the armory, but it may be 6 and 1 now.  We're only going to be working 8 hours instead of 9.  I got my shots today, only have a flu shot and a TB test to go.  I'm really getting lazy, about seeing people.  I went home teaching yesterday, but we didn't catch anyone home.

They only promoted up to 16,407, I should make it in January at the rate they are going.  It's 6:00 in the morning, and I'm on my way to breakfast in a few minutes.  I had my first bowl of oats the other day, they weren't quite as good as mom's are.

31 October 1971
I went to a Korean show today, and one of the girls was singing "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Hank Williams.  I was sitting on the front row, and I was kinda singing along when came came off the stage and grabbed me by the arm and got me to sing along with her.  She was the first girl I've had my arm around since I've been here! All my buddies got a kick out of it.  I think one of them took a picture, but I won't know until I get one.  Those Korean girls are really sharp, but not as good as the Miss America show.
